The show premiered in 1995 in both Tokyo & Osaka as simultaneous long running productions, which was an unheard-of way at the time. Since then, the show has been performed in various cities and loved by many theatregoers.

In the current production, the scenery, along with the script and the direction, has beenrenewed. The production takes after the version which was recreated by the creative team from the original production of Beauty and the Beast to make the showfit the times, and was presented at the Shanghai Disney Resort from 2018 to 2020. This timeless masterpiece, which has been performed with its never-fading appeal since its premiere in Japan, will be presented in a new location with a new look.

Once upon a time, a young, beautiful, but very spoiled prince lived in a castle of a faraway land. One cold night, an old woman came to the castle, offering him a single rose in return for shelter, but the prince, disgusted by her ugly appearance, turned her away. Then, the old woman transformed into an enchantress and turned the prince into a hideous Beast. If the prince is unable to learn to love someone and be loved in return before the rose petals fall, then the prince will remain as a Beast forever.

One day, a beautiful and intelligent young lady named Belle wanders into the castle where the Beast was spending his days in despair. The two realize each other's kindness, and their hearts begin to connect with each other. However, as the prince's time draws to a close, an incident occurs. Will the spell break before the rose petals fall?
